Dr. R.H.M.A. Bartels appointed as Professor in Neurosurgery

In his oration on the occasion of his appointment as Professor of Neurosurgery on the 25th of November, neurosurgeon Ronald Bartels gave a lecture titled “Alles komt goed” (translated “Everything will be fine”)

 

Ronald Bartels has been appointed Professor of Neurosurgery at Radboud University/Radboud university medical center with effect from 1 June 2015. Prior to this appointment, Bartels was Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Radboud university medical center (since 2010).

Ronald Bartels (Maastricht, 1962) studied Medicine at Radboud University (1980-1987). He specialised in the field of neurosurgery and went on to become a staff member of the Department of Neurosurgery at Radboud university medical center.

Bartels did his specialisation in spine surgery in Karlsbad Langensteinbach. From 2003 to 2005 he worked – in addition to his appointment at Radboud university medical center – as a consulting spine surgeon at Sint Maartenskliniek. In 2004 he obtained a PhD on research into treatment methods of compression of a nerve at the elbow (title of thesis: Surgical treatment of ulnar neuropathy at the elbow).

Bartels is a member of the International Advisory Board, Neurosurgery, the Editorial Board of the European Spine Journal and the International Editorial Board of Acta Neurochirurgica. He is also the president elect of the Cervical Spine Research Society Europe.
